Meet Our Team

Karen and Valerie

Here we are, Karen Hostetler and Valerie Spanos, co-owners of Mountain Meadow Wool Mill.  One of us is really smart and one of us is really funny, and we are both really beautiful!  We have been on a very interesting journey and we want to share some of our stories, so keep reading!

For over 100 years, Basque sheepherders have grazed sheep on the plains and mountains of Wyoming.

Surrounded by the culture of ranching and of sheep, as knitters we searched for products made from local wool.

The crew at Mountain Meadow Wool

It was difficult to find yarn and fiber made in this area, and we were concerned about the loss of this way of life with many of the sheep ranches closing down. So in 2002, we embarked on a journey to solve these challenges.

It took us 5 years, but in 2007 Mountain Meadow Wool Mill opened its doors.  We are a full service mill with a family of dedicated employees and friends.  Our mission is to create a company that sustains ranching and we are working very hard toward that goal.  We have always been wool lovers and the beautiful fiber grown in the Mountain West is the BEST!
